How do I make an appointment? Call one of our phone numbers (Solano County 707.864.3000, Sonoma & Napa Counties 707.258.1340, Contra Costa and How much does the consultation cost? The in-home consultation is absolutely FREE, with no obligation to purchase. We have found that it is to your benefit to have the consultant come to your home to personally see the windows, the décor and any particular challenges presented by your windows. This allows us to give you an estimate in writing, without any additional hidden costs. Will the design consultant have samples and pictures with them? Yes. At the time you make your appointment you will be asked some questions about the rooms in order to help your consultant bring the most appropriate samples with them. Your consultant will also utilize your budget when showing fabric samples, helping to keep you within the amount you have to spend. Designers will sow photographs of previous work, drawings, and sometimes even sketch something out on the spot to help you visualize what your choices will look like. If needed they can also order a memo sample of the fabric for you to keep with you and aid in matching other items needed for the room. How much do I put down on my order? The deposit needed is 50% of the order total. This amount allows us to order what is needed to get your products made and installed. When is the balance paid? The remaining balance of your order is payable when your products are delivered. The installer will verify your form of payment when they come to install the products in your home. How is the installation scheduled? Mary, our project manager, or the installer, will call you as soon as your products are completed to schedule an installation date and time with you. What other products do we sell? Although we specialize in window treatments, our consultants can assist you in purchasing almost anything you might desire to complete the decoration of your home. Bedding, headboards, table runners, pillows, reupholstery, or custom made upholstered furniture are some examples. I have cut the drawstring on my blinds too short, what do I do now? The only way to fix such a problem is to call a blind repair company to have the restring it. If a cord on a blind is too long for the window, and you must cut it, it is important to follow these steps. First extend the blind to the lowest desired position. In this fully extended position you may then cut the cord to an appropriate length. Be sure to reinstall the child safety beads, and the end caps. I have an octagonal window near the top of my cathedral ceiling, what are my options to reduce the amount of sun filtering in? Any specialty shaped window like this can create a challenge in a room. You will want to take into consideration the treatments you have on the other windows in the room when selecting a solution. A sunburst made of neutral sheer voile is a common solution that works well with most existing treatments. This has a wood frame and the fabric is stapled on and pulled to the center. Shutters or horizontal blinds can also be specially made to fit the window. They will not be fully operational, but you may in some cases tilt the vanes. We just moved into a new house and have already put blinds on all the windows, but the rooms just don't have the finished look I see in photos. This is exactly what consultants do best! Windows need comprehensive treatments to complete the custom decorated look a room requires. If the blinds take care of all the functionality you desire from your window coverings then you are looking for a decorative solution. Many treatments are purely decorative; valances, lambrequins, stationary panels, and swags. Theses are some of the treatments you should consider when completing the custom look in your rooms. I have a large window and slider in my family room, which makes that room colder than the rest of the house. Large windows and/or many windows in a room can weaken the insulative properties of a room. The best thing to do is find window treatments that have a high insulation factor. Thermal lined draperies, shutters and Duette Honeycomb shades are good products to consider. We have a media room in our house and would like to be able to make the room completely dark even in the middle of the day. First, it is almost impossible to make any room completely dark. But with the right window treatments you can come as close as possible. The best thing for a multitude of windows is to utilize both draperies lined with blackout lining, and a cornice box at the top. This keeps the light leakage to an absolute minimum. Many other products have room-darkening capabilities as well: Duette Honeycomb Blinds and Silhouettes, especially when mounted outside the window frame or used in conjunction with lined drapes. |
